NAELA Opposes Extension of Florida's Waiver of Retroactive Coverage

NAELA joined comments to the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Alex Azar to oppose another sought-after extension of Florida's waiver of prior quarter coverage under its Section 1115 waiver. The comments were led by the Georgetown University Center for Children and Families. "[T]he Secretary does not have the authority under section 1115 of the Social Security Act to waive retroactive coverage, because waiving retroactive coverage does not promote the objectives of the Medicaid program, a statutory requirement for approval," states the letter.
