NAELA joined 50 other organization in a letter led by AARP to make permanent the 7.5 percent of adjusted gross income (AGI) threshold to deduct medical expenses from the income tax. The lower threshold expired in 2018, reverting to 10 percent of AGI for 2019. “Without action, 4.4 million American with high medical costs will face an unexpected tax increase when they file their returns in the coming month” according to the letter.
