Disability and Aging Groups Advocate for Additional COVID-19 Assistance

While the CARES Act contained a number of provisions that helped individuals with disabilities and older adults, it did not go far enough. NAELA staff, as part of the Disability and Aging Collaborative, helped draft recommendations for a fourth piece of COVID-19 legislation that moves forward. Recommendations include increasing the Medicaid FMAP match beyond the recent 6.2 percent bump and passing the Coronavirus Relief for Seniors and People with Disabilities Act (H.R. 6305, S. 3544), which includes grants to support Direct Support Professional (DSP) and Home Health Workforce and to support aging adults and people with disabilities in their homes and communities.
