NAELA Submits Comments in Support of Updating Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) has submitted comments to Melanie Fontes Rainer, the Director of the Office of Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in strong support of updating the Section 504 regulations of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to conform with subsequent legislative updates. Updating Section 504 will bring the regulations in line with relevant and well-established case law and align it with the Americans with Disabilities Act’s mandate, which provides similar obligations for state and certain other government actors.
