NAELA Submits Comments in Support of Expanding Rental Subsidy Policy
The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) submitted public comments in support of
an administrative rule
that would expand rental subsidy calculations for purposes of certain benefits to be uniform in all states. Due to recent federal appellate rulings, there are discrepancies in how some states calculate their deductions to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) based on discounts or subsidies received for rent. The proposed rule would enact a uniform standard for such calculations, and would do so in a way most favorable to beneficiaries. Read NAELA's full letter
